Entry Requirements to CIMA

CIMA offers multiple entry points to its qualification.

  • Entry to Certificate Level
    +2 students or graduate students with non-commerce backgrounds can enter the CIMA path at the Certificate Level with no exemption.
  • Entry to Operational Level
    Graduates from commerce backgrounds can gain direct entry into the Operational Level with 4 paper exemptions and give an examination for 12 papers to qualify for the qualification.
  • Entry to Management Level
    Postgraduates from commerce backgrounds can gain direct entry to the Management Level with 11 paper exemptions and only 5 papers to qualify for the CIMA Qualification.
  • Entry to Strategic Level Case Study
    Applicants who already hold a CMA or CA designation can directly enter into the Strategic Level Case Study with 15 paper examinations with only 1 case study to qualify.
  • CGMA Designation
    To be eligible for the CGMA designation, you must demonstrate a minimum of 36 months of work-based experience in each of the four knowledge areas outlined by the CGMA Competency Framework: Technical Skills, Business Skills, People Skills, and Leadership Skills.
